JCHS 2011 FEEDER SOFTBALL PROGRAM LOOKING FOR INTERESTED PLAYERS (4/4)
Plans are moving forward for a JCHS feeder softball team for the Fall 2011 season to
capitalize on the success of the 2009 & 2010 seasons. Tryouts for the team will be conducted the last week of July and
the first week of August with specifics dates to be determined and posted to this web site and sent to the email list.
Team practices will begin the first week of August. Program coordinators are actively seeking interested players so they
can be added to the contact list for team tryouts. Please see the BOOSTER page and contact the Feeder Program
Coordinator if you wish to be added to the email distribution list for the JCHS softball feeder program. The program
is open to rising 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students for the 2010-11 school year that reside within the JCHS attendance
zone. Home school students or those that plan to attend private schools are eligible provided they meet the grade and
attendance zone requirements. Questions regarding eligibility may also be directed to the feeder program coordinator.
NORTH FULTON/FORSYTH FEEDER (NFFL) SOFTBALL PROGRAM INFORMATION (4/4)
.png)
The North Fulton Feeder Softball League was formed five years ago to provide an
opportunity for middle school softball players to compete as part of a team representing the high school for
which they were zoned to attend. Players in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades were invited to tryout for their
respective high school teams typically in July and August with practices beginning in the middle of August.
Teams would then play a schedule of 8-10 regular season games culminating with an end of the season tournament
at Twin Creeks Park in Cherokee County. In addition to the teams representing North Fulton, middle school teams
from Cherokee County also participated in the tournament.
In 2008, teams from Northview, Chattahoochee, Milton, Roswell, and Alpharetta participated in the league. With
the exception of Northview, it was the 2nd year of participation for these schools. Northview participated for
the 1st time in 2008. Representing Cherokee County were teams from Woodstock, Cherokee, Sequoyah, Etowah, and
Creekside. Northview, in its initial year of participation, brought home the championship to North Fulton with
Milton placing 3rd overall and Roswell 4th. In 2009, in its inaugural high school season, Johns Creek participated
in the feeder league expanding the league representation to six local high schools. In 2010, the league continued
to build on its solid base and reputation with the addition of two Forsyth County schools to the program. South
Forsyth and Lambert High Schools, both members of Region 7-AAAA, entered teams in the North Fulton Feeder League
expanding the league to 8 schools. Both Forsyth schools had excelent seasons in 2010.
The feeder program is again expanding in 2011 and will welcome 3 new schools: Forsyth Central, West Forsyth, and
Creekview. As their names suggest, Forsyth Central and West Forsyth are Forsyth county schools with Forsyth Central
part of Region 7-AAAA and West Forsyth participating in Region 6-AAAAA. Creekview is the first Cherokee county
program to join the feeder league and they too represent Region 7-AAAA.
The middle school teams are able to practice and play on their respective high school fields through the support
and cooperation of the head coaches at their schools. The feeder teams, although loosely associated with the
high schools, are run by volunteers and are not sponsored by the high schools or the county. The teams must be
self-funded and self-equipped. Many schools rely on the booster club to identify volunteers to organize and run
the feeder team while other programs take a more active role.
Plans for a Johns Creek High School feeder team for the 2011 season are presently underway. Check back to this
