JCHS/NORTHVIEW TO HOST 2012 FUNdamentals YOUTH SUMMER SOFTBALL CAMP (UPDATED 2/8)
The Northview and Johns Creek softball programs will team up to host the 5th annual FUNdamentals youth softball camp this summer. The camp, which is open to 3rd through 8th students for the 2012-13 school year, will be held at the Johns Creek HS softball complex Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, July 24-26. Camp sessions will be held 9:00am-1:00pm on all three days featuring instruction from JCHS and NHS coaches and varsity players in fielding, hitting, bunting, base running, and throwing fundamentals. Special sessions for pitchers and catchers will also be provided (note: the pitching sessions are not for beginner pitchers, all pitchers should have 1 year of experience as a minimum and be currently taking pitching lessons). Players will also be divided into teams for live scrimmages on the final day of the camp. In addition to the FUNdamentals camp, we will again offer a special camp session on Wednesday, July 25, for players interested in slap hitting. This camp session will be taught by Coach Beth Spak, herself a former slap hitter at UGA, along with varsity players. GAA HOSTS JOHNS CREEK CASINO NIGHT (UPDATED 2/8)
The Gladiator Athletic Association (GAA) is hosting the 1st annual Johns Creek High School Casino Night and Silent Auction the evening of March 17. This will be a fun and first class event at a very reasonable price. Each $50 ticket admits 2 adults for an evening of gambling (blackjack, roulette, craps and poker) for prizes, a silent auction, hors d’0euvres, a cash bar and a live band. The venue will only accommodate 400 attendees, so please buy tickets early to guarantee a spot. JCHS SOFTBALL FIELD NAMED FIELD OF YEAR BY GADC (UPDATED 2/8)
Johns Creek High School was recognized as softball Field of the Year by the Georgia Dugout Club at the recent annual GADC meeting. Coach Nicholson accepted the prestigious honor on behalf of the school and the softball program. A photo of the plaque which now proudly hangs in the main school building can be seen to the right. JCHS SOFTBALL/BASEBALL CONCESSION/RESTROOM BUILDING COMPLETED (UPDATED 1/31)
Construction has been completed and the keys turned over to Coach Nicholson for the new 2-story baseball/softball concession and restroom facility. This fantastic addition to the campus fills a much needed void for a permanent concessions facility and more importantly restrooms for players and families. The concession and restroom facilities occupy the ground floor of the new building. The building also has a 2nd story to be used as a press box and lounge area and was funded by the Dugout and Diamond Clubs along with the Gladiator Athletic Association (GAA). The new 2-story brick building blends in perfectly with other structures on the campus (see photos below).

JOHNS CREEK ASSIGNED TO AAAAAA REGION 6 FOR 2012 SEASON (UPDATED 12/3)
The GHSA reclassification committee has completed its initial assignments of classifications and regions and Johns Creek has moved from AAAA to the newest (and largest) classification in Georgia, AAAAAA (that's right, 6 As in all!). Johns Creek, as the 4th smallest school in the AAAAAA classification will compete with familiar rivals Chattahoochee, Lambert, South Forsyth and others but is also now in the same classification with mega-schools like Collins Hill, Peachtree Ridge, Grayson, Mill Creek, Camden County, etc. Schools in the AAAAAA classification will range from 1940 to 4000 students based on enrollment for clearly the largest discrepancy of any of the 6 classifications. The Lady Gladiators have been assigned to Region 6 which consists of 8 teams overall, 4 from Fulton County and 4 from Forsyth County. The Region has been divided into sub-regions A and B with the Fulton schools in A and the Forsyth schools in B. The schedule of region games for the 2012 season will be left to the region coaches to decide at their region softball meeting early next year. The specific teams in AAAAAA Region 6 along with the sub-region assignments are shown below:
